There’s something about the open road that speaks to the soul—especially when it’s carved through mountains, hugged by lakes, or kissed by ocean breezes. I’ve chased that feeling across continents, from the famed 1,864 curves of Mae Hong Son in Thailand to the winding ridgelines of New Hampshire’s Route 112. And while international motorcycle tours offer their own kind of magic, I’ve come to appreciate just how rich and rewarding the riding is right here in the Northeast.

🌏 Thailand: A Dream Ride Realized

Last year, I joined two riding buddies for a 12-day motorcycle tour through Thailand. We flew out on Thanksgiving morning, landed in Chiang Mai, and spent the next week and a half exploring the country’s “Beaches to Mountains” route on Suzuki V-Strom 650s. With a British guide, his Thai wife, and a spirited crew of Aussie riders, we carved through sun-drenched roads, feasted on street food, and tackled legendary routes like the Mae Hong Son loop. The left-lane riding was exhilarating, the weather ideal, and the camaraderie unforgettable.

That trip sparked something deeper—a renewed appreciation for the riding culture, and a desire to share it with others.

🌅 Florida & Beyond: Expanding the Ride

In winter, I’ve trailered my BMW R1200RT to Florida, and recently added a V-Strom to the

stable for group rides around Bonita Springs. The boulevards from Cape Coral to Naples, especially under the winter sun, offer a refreshing change of pace. It’s proof that great riding isn’t just about geography—it’s about mindset, community, and the joy of discovery.

🏞️ Lincoln, NH: A Hidden Gem for Riders

Back home, I operate Mt. Liberty Lodging in Lincoln, NH—a seasonal motel nestled in the heart of the White Mountains. While the riding season here may be short, it’s packed with possibility. Lincoln is perfectly positioned for day trips that rival any international tour in beauty and thrill.

Here are just a few of my favorite local routes:

  • Kanacamagus Highway & Passaconaway Road: A sunrise ride to North Conway that sets the tone for the day.

  • Route 118/Dorchester Road to Plymouth: A ridgeline descent that’s pure joy after a long week.

  • Route 175/Quincy Bogg/Stinson Lake/ Buffalo Road: A smile-inducing loop with plenty of curves and scenic beauty.

  • White Mountain Trail National Scenic Byway: A classic route with postcard-worthy stops.

  • Lake Winnipesaukee Loop & Castle in the Clouds: Lakeside serenity meets mountaintop grandeur.

  • Evans Notch, Dixville Notch & Hurricane Mountain Road: Twisty, technical, and unforgettable.

Whether you’re riding solo, with a group, or trailering in for a weekend escape, Lincoln offers a launchpad for adventure. And when the day’s ride is done, Mt. Liberty Lodging is here with clean rooms, local tips, and a warm welcome.

✨ An Invitation to Fellow Riders

If you’re planning a motorcycle trip through New England, consider making Lincoln your base. I’m always happy to swap stories, share route maps, or point you toward the best local eats and scenic stops. Even when I’m not riding, I love connecting with guests who do.

And if you’ve got your sights set on international touring, I’d be glad to share insights from Thailand and help you dream up your next adventure—whether it’s the Amalfi Coast, the Ring of Kerry, or the Great Ocean Road.

The road is calling. Let’s ride.
